In this week's issue of the Red Pride Review, Berg Middle School principal Bret Miller pens the opening letter.

Hello Cardinals, it's hard to believe...
...that a new school year has started. In the blink of an eye, you go from the hard charge of ending one school year and the next thing you know a new year is beginning. Maybe that is because educators, especially the staff at Berg, never stopped working to create the best experience possible for students. From our teacher leaders participating in a workshop to review and update our PBIS framework, associates and AEA staff preparing rooms for new students, and the custodial staff keeping our building looking amazing - we never stopped working to prepare for the new school year.   Messinger>span class="e_4"> presented the opportunity of becoming the next Berg Middle School Principal a year and a half ago, he shared with me his confidence that the strengths he had observed in me were exactly what Berg needed. It was somewhat uncharted territory, but I trusted he would mentor me through. I knew I would discover and experience many new and amazing things and people, but nothing could prepare me for what Berg offers - a fun, caring, positive and supportive place with honest people; a place that supports students through what can be some of the most challenging times of their lives. We do our best to be everything our students need at all times.

Not everyday is sunshine and roses, but hey, it is middle school. What I can tell you is that every day the staff at Berg do everything in their power to be there at the right time for each and every student. We wake up each day and do it again. As long as we do that, we will be here at the right time, for the right student more times than we could ever know. Some of the best advice, timely support and most impactful moments in my own life came when I least expected it and from people I didn’t expect it from. I am proud of all those times that that has happened at Berg and will continue to happen. In this issue of the Red Pride Review, we're spotlighting the amazing counselors we have in our district who are here to support your children everyday in every way.

We are proud to be a part of the district. Thank you for the opportunity and responsibility you have granted us once again as we head into the 2023-24 school year. Go Cardinals!
